  from "The Stebbins Genealogy" by Ralph Stebbins Greenlee, 1904 (archive.org) Matilda Stebbins, daughter of Josiah Stebbins and Mary Howe, was born March 3, 1774, at Winchester, Cheshire, New Hampshire; died July 3, 1854, at Winchester, New Hampshire; married May, 1804, to ISAAC BAKER, born 1777 at Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Occupation, saddlemaker. Resided at Northfield, Massachusetts. ISAAC BAKER lived in Northfield, Mass., and, for a while, in Dummerston, Vermont. In May, 1806, he went away and his wife never saw him again. MRS. BAKER lived for a time, with her father, and afterwards with her brother, Dr. Arad Stebbins, at Bradford, Vermont. Later she became housekeeper for Miller & Griswold, merchants of Hinsdale, N.H.; and then kept house for 'Squire Nevers, a lawyer of Northfield, Mass. She was a model housekeeper, noted for neatness and good order. She kept her son with her until he was old enough to work out, after which she kept house for a while in Northfield, her son providing for her. After his marriage, she went to live with him, and spent the remainder of her life there.
