  from "History of Lucas county, Iowa", 1881. (posted by Karen de Sanno on findagrave.com) WOODS, ISAAC W., farmer and stock-raiser, section eight, post-office, Chariton. Born September 20, 1836, in Ashtabula county, Ohio. Moved with his parents, in 1838, to Rockford, Illinois; thence to Wisconsin, in 1843, where his father died. In 1846, he moved to Pike county, Illinois, where he attained his majority, on a farm, and has followed that avocation all his life. Enlisted August 4, 1861, in company C, first Missouri engineers. Served his country three years, and was discharged, by reason of expiration of term of service. He returned to Monmouth, Illinois, and re-enlisted October 31, 1864, in company B, 12th Illinois. Was discharged at the close of the war, at Louisville, Kentucky, July 10, 1865. During the same year he moved to Benton county, Iowa, remained there two years, then came to Lucas county in 1868, and purchased the land on which he now resides. Married September 8, 1868, in Lucas county, to Miss Jennie M. Hunsher, a native of Adams county, Illinois. They have five children: Lizzie M., Charles H., George O., Bell, and an infant, not named.
