      SMITH CENTER - Ardyus Elsie (Woods) Burgess, was the eighth child born to John and Almeda Woods on Aug. 27, 1913, at their home north of Lebanon. She passed away Sept. 4, 2017, at the age of 104. She was a devoted mother, farmwife and homemaker. Preceded in death by husband, Gerald; infant daughter, Sue Laree; and son-in-law, Larry Jewell. Ardyus is survived by daughter, Carol Jewell Karpenko, of Irving, Texas; son, Val Burgess (Doti), of Lebanon; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Lebanon Christian Church.
