    • from "The Greenville Record-Argus", 4 Dec 1907 (newspapers.com)
Augustus Byron Woods was born in Delaware Township, this county, on August 31, 1857, and died at his home in Cleveland, November 19, 1907, at the age of 50 years, 2 months and 28 days. His death was the result of a complication of diseases; his general health had not been good for a year but he had followed his trade as carpenter until five weeks before his death, when he was necessitated to cease work and one week later took his bed. It was evident that his recovery was hopeless from the first. he was tenderly cared for by a loving wife and son, and kind friends and neighbors cheerfully assisted in every way. Byron, as he was familiarly called, was well known by many of our citizens and had a host of friends. He looked on the sunny side of life, always wore a smile and possessed winning qualities. He joined Old Salem Presbyterian church when he was 13, afterward becoming a Methodist. He will be missed by his many friends. After a short service at his home in Cleveland on Saturday, November 30, conducted by Re. George W. Orcutt, pastor of the M.E. church, the body was taken to the residence of M.S. Grimm, a brother-in-law, at Fredonia, and on December 2, his remains were laid to rest in Millbank cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. W.F. Shannon, of the Presbyterian church. A faithful, living wife, one won, an aged mother, two brothers and two sisters mourn his departure to the spirit-world, his father having preceded him. He died in peace. May they all meet again in the "Sweet bye and bye," where sickness and death are strangers, where we'll never say good bye.
