      Robert N. Clark received the B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees in
      electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and
      the Ph.D. from Stanford University. He was a research engineer with Honeywell, a consulting analyst with the Boeing
      Company, and a faculty member of electrical engineering
      and of aeronautics and astronautics for 37 years at the University of Washington. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at the University of
