  from "The Holley Standard", 4 Dec 1890 (fultonhistory.com) KILLED BY THE CARS Byron A. Gilbert, a highly esteemed resident of Medina, was run over by a freight train near the Genesee street crossing in the village last Thursday afternoon and instantly killed. The head was crushed and the body cut and mangled beyond recognition. Papers found in the pockets served for identification. Mr. Gilbert was subject to epileptic attacks, and must have fallen while walking on the track. The engineer saw him lying motionless on the track, but too late to stop the train. Mr. Gilbert was formerly a citizen of this place, and had may friends here. He was a brother of Miss Cora Gilbert and Mrs Charles Pratt of this village. He leaves a widow and two children. Miss Fannie A. Gilbert, who is teaching music at the Paris Institute of, Paris, Texas, and Frank A. Gilbert, a young man who resided with his parents in Medina. The funeral was held on Saturday.
