  WILLIAM F. SMITH from "The Toronto Daily Star" 5 Aug 1959 (thestar.com Toronto Star Archives) Requiem mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Thursday in Holy Name church for William Faichnie Smith, 84, president of Smith Brothers Loose Leaf Ltd. Interment will be in Mount Hope cemetery. Mr. Smith died at his summer home, Lakeshore Ave., Centre Island, Saturday. Born in Glasgow, he had been a resident of Toronto 78 years. His city home was on Jackman Ave. He was a member of of Holy Name church since 1914 and of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Yacht club. His wife, Rose Smith, predeceased him about 30 years ago. Surviving are a son, Russell; two daughters, Dr. Doreen Smith, head of the department of food chemistry, University of Toronto, and Hilda Smith; a sister, Ruby Smith, all of Toronto, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
