Baker Of Old Family In Dallas Dies John Beeman Baker, 75, member of a pioneer family here and operator of Baker's Pharmacy on Second Avenue, died at his home, 910 Wayne, Tuesday after a short illness. A native of Dallas, he had lived here until about forty years ago when he moved to Haskell, Haskell County, where he served as postmaster while practicing pharmacy. About five years later he returned to Dallas where he had lived ever since. His grandfather, J.J. Beeman, was reputed to be the first man to drive his wagon through the area that later become Dallas- the wagon tracks later became street routes here. Baker had attended Texas Christian University. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Geo. A. Brewer Funeral Chapel, 3603 Ross, with the Rev. W.A. Welsh, pastor of East Dallas Christian Church, and the Rev. Luke Bolin, associate minister, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Minnier DeSpain and Mrs. B.W. Bradshaw, both of Dallas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
