      Pedestrian Near Death; Auto Driver Booked
      A traffic accident at Fourth ave. and A st. last night left George Perkins, 68, 1349 Fourth ave., near death in county hospital. Crossing north on Fourth ave., Perkins suffered a fractured skull, face and body bruises when Officer W.E. Warner reported. he was struck by a car driven by Gaspar Bacon jr., 24, Washington D.C. Bacon was booked in city jail on a charge of reckless driving involving an injury. In a signed statement to police, Bacon said that "the pedestrian was walking north across Fourth save. I slowed down, and thought he saw me. Looking the other way, he stepped into the side of the card, hitting his head on the the door post."
