  from "Vital records of Salem, Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849" (archive.org) Edward Lang Perkins, s. David and Hannah (Fabens), was born Mar. 12, 1800. PR423 from "The family of John Perkins of Ipswich, Massachusetts" Edward Lang (David, Francis, Jacob, Isaac, John, John) was born in Salem, Mass., March 12, 1800. He was in early life employed in the office of the Clerk of Essex County Courts, which position he gave up to accept that of book-keeper in the Exchange Bank, of Salem, on its first opening. His health failing, he gave up all business for a while, but afterwards became a partner with his brother, David, in the drug business in New York City. They were, with others, financially ruined by the great fire in New York in 1836. For the last twenty-six years of his life, he was Receiver of the Mass. Hospital Life Insurance Company, of Boston. The close and unremitted duties of that office induced softening of the brain, of which he died, Nov. 1, 1864. He was never married.
