      Mr. James Baker, of Cambria, a man 78 years of age, who has been laboring for some days under mental aberation, was taken to the Asylum at Utica, Monday.

      INSANE - Mr. James Baker, aged 78 years, a respectable farmer in the town of Cambria, was taken to the Lunatic Asylum at Utica on Monday last. He was subject to attacks of mental aberration, and has been an inmate of the Asylum before. A rush of blood to the head a short time since, left his mind deranged, but it ti thought not permanently, and his friends thought best to take him to the Asylum for medical treatment. He was good humored adn very talkative on his way down.

      John Fox, well known as the coffee and spice man, has just arrived in town with a car-load of choice apples, from Niagara
      county, N.Y. One barrel is filled with 215 which are said to be the largest apples ever put together in one barrel. He will sell today at the western railroad freight depot-Springfield (Mass.) Bepublican.
      The apples alluded to in the above item were raised by James Baker, in the town of Cambria, and were shipped by Messrs. Baker & Manger of this city. Mr. Fox in a private letter states that he stood all day at the depot in Springfield, showing the apples, and a large crowd collected about the car.

      ANOTHER OF OUR PIONEER SETTLERS CALLED AWAY
      We are again called to record the death of one of our aged pioneer citizens, who, one by one, are passing away from the stage. James Baker, an aged and respected citizen of Cambria, died At his residence, in the town of Cambria, yesterday, 18th inst., at the advanced age of 76 years. Mr. Baker came to this county from New England more than thirty years ago, and is among those who, by hardy industry, wise foresight and good example, laid the foundation for the present prosperity and for the religious and educational privileges for which Western New York is now so highly favored. The death of this venerable citizen will be mourned by a large concourse of warmly attached friends.

      You are hereby cited and required to appear before our surrogate of our county of Niagara, in our surrogate's court, on the 12th day of December 1881, at ten o'clock in the forenoon of that day, at the surrogate's office, in the city of Lockport, N.
